Vale Itabila mining area is allowed to reopen
On June 17 local time in Brazil, Vale said in a document that the company had received the permission to re operate itabila mining area, and again stressed that its annual production target remained unchanged.
Vale said it had obtained the permission from the labor inspector of Minas Gerais state to reopen the mine. The reason given by the Labor Bureau of MG state was that the measures taken by vale to reduce the virus threat and protect its employees were sufficient to restart work.
Vale said that the itabila mining area produced nearly 36 million tons of iron ore in 2019, while its total output at that time was about 302 million tons.
In addition, according to overseas media reports, since the suspension of operation of itabila mining area in late May, the affected output is about 1 million tons.
