The output of Kamoa Copper Mine will increase by 215% year-on-year in 2022. It is estimated that the
Zijin Mining's Kamoa-Kakula copper mine in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) produced copper metal in the concentrate in 2022 increased by 215% year-on-year to 333497 tons, reaching the upper limit of the production guidance target of the year (2.9-34 million tons).
It is planned to carry out linkage test run in April 2023, accelerate the realization of the capacity of 9.2 million tons/year, and increase the copper capacity to about 450000 tons/year. With the continuous improvement of production capacity, it is estimated that the amount of copper metal in the concentrate produced by Kamoa-Kakula Copper Mine will be about 39-43 million tons in 2023.
At the same time, the preliminary work of the expansion of the third phase of the Kamoa project and the supporting 500000 t/a copper smelter has been smoothly advanced, which will accelerate the construction of the world's largest copper smelter
