Zambian Mopani copper mine saw increased losses and decreased production last year, looking for new

  On June 30th, foreign power reported that the state-owned Zambian ZCCM Investment Holding Company announced in its 2022 financial report on its official website on Friday that the Mopani copper mine in the country experienced an increase in losses last year and a decrease in copper production. The copper mine is seeking new investors.
  ZCCM stated that the copper mine's losses expanded to $298 million last year, compared to a loss of $74.2 million in 2021.
  ZCCM stated that it is expected that the Mopani copper mine will require $300 million in investment to expand its production capacity within the next three years. After the completion of the capacity expansion project, its annual copper production is expected to exceed 200000 tons, and the mine will require an additional $150 million in investment during operation.
